The Mikoyan MiG-29 (Russian: Микоян МиГ-29; NATO reporting name: Fulcrum) is a 4th-generation jet fighter aircraft designed in the Soviet Union for an air superiority role. Developed in the 1970s by the Mikoyan design bureau, it entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1983, and remains in use by the Russian Air Force as well as in many other nations. The NATO name "Fulcrum" was unofficially used by Soviet pilots in service. The MiG-29, along with the Sukhoi Su-27, were developed to counter new American fighters such as the F-15 Eagle, and the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Kalau MiG mau upgrade, ni cadangan aku:

1) Full digital cockpit + HOTAS stick
2) Zhuk AE AESA radar
3) Datalink capabilities utk 2 way data transfer dgn Su30MKM dan our future AEW&C
4) Upgrade internal fuel tank to carry more fuel for longer combat range. Projek SMT atau MiG35 leh dijadikan reference
5) Tukar enjin kepada RD-33MK... Tapi hilang la identity Smokey Bandits sbb enjin ni dah tak berasap Very Happy

Dah alang-alang nak upgrade hehehehe... Kalau nak replace attrition pun boleh, beli 2 bijik MiG dari Russia dgn upgrade2 kat atas, kira prototaip laa... pastu the remaining MiGs upgrade kat sini... Tak dpt semua, kalau leh upgrade radar & digital cockpit pun ok

MiG record :

MIG-29N(9.12SD)with Topaz radar(N019ME),TACAN and ICAO and IFF they also got wiring for R-77, A-A refuelling, some new TWS mode for radar (2 targets can be attacked simultaneously with RVV-AE), as well as some kind of Gardenya internal jammer and one LCD in cockpit installed

MAJOR ADEX exercise:

RMAF Migs have gained a number of VFR 'killed'against RAAF FA18 and RSAF F16C/D.

Fly Fish exercises 2003 :

First event - Close air combat
Our pilots manage to shutdown 20 – 0 Harrier until the RAF pilots do not want to continue this CaC exercise.

Second event – BVR engagements
Since Harrier was equip with powerfully Blue Eyes Radar and AMRAAN and our MiG29N has equip with Topaz and Alamo it was NOT a fair fight. Our MiG has lost in BVR engagements.

Conclusions
I was a fair fight since our Radar can’t match Blue Eyes Radar. The step has been taken to improving the BVR capability by upgrading this aircraft to SMT standard with have more powerfully Zhuk - M Radar, Hotas and upgrading Data Bus and new engine. As for BVR missile R77 – Adder, Malaysia won’t introduce this missile into this region. On others case our pilots has manage to shutdown numbers of F16. This meaning our MiG29N still relevant and could match F16 Block 52

Churinga 96 Exercise :

The MiG-29 Fulcrum is at this time regionally deployed by Malaysia and India. The aircraft, which was designed to challenge the F-15A in Warpac airspace, has acquitted itself well in recent Malaysian IADS exercises with the RAAF. Numerous reports indicate that the 77 SQN deployment to the Churinga 96 Exercise led to the "scoring" defeat of the RAAF contigent by the RMAF MiG-29/Archer force. While the MiG-29 has combat radius performance inferior to the F/A-18, it has superlative agility and is an excellent dogfighter by any standard

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] tml

exercise AIRTHAMAL:

RTAF F16 OCU also have been killed by the NO 17/19 sqn.

Exercise Starfish

RAAF pilots were unpleasantly surprised by enhanced combat effectiveness of the upgraded MiG-29Ns in air to air combat. Most were 'shot' down before they could achieve a firing solution on the MiGs.
